5 Ways to Get Motivated

“Self motivation is key. You won’t be successful without it.”

http://www.picturequote.com

When you are motivated, you are inspired to pursue your purpose or your heart desires. Whether it be in your work life, personal life, extracurricular life etc., being motivated is what help you accomplish your goals and dreams. Being motivated is important because it leads to SUCCESS.

When you are motivated, it enhances your energy, efficiency, self-esteem, confidence and more. Motivation is a life skill and it is necessary daily. Β If you are inspired working on a project right now or have this GRAND idea in your mind, TFOL want to give you β€œ5 Ways to Get Motivated”.

5 Ways to Get Motivated:

β€œFollow your passion and it will lead you to your PURPOSE.” -Oprah Winfrey

1. Get Inspired and Find Your “WHY”

You may be wondering, β€œWhat does it mean to find your β€œwhy”? To find your β€œwhy” means to find your purpose or your reason why you want to achieve a goal or dream. It is your objective or your motive. Finding your β€˜why” inspires you and helps you get direction on what it is you are passionate about. I find that when you are inspired and know your β€œwhy”, you develop a burning desire that gives you the momentum to do the work.

β€œA goal should scare you a little and excite you A LOT.” -Joe Vitale

2. Set a Goal

When you write or set a goal, it helps you to build and to plan clearly. Goal setting motivates and pushes you in the right direction. When you know what the goal is, you can be focused and motivated to execute the plan. When making goals, you can use the SMART Goals Criteria.

S.pecific M.easurable A.ttainable R.elevant T.ime

(Refer back to our blog post entitled: “Resolution Vs. Revolution” for more details on SMART goal setting.)Β

β€œPeople inspire you or they drain you- pick them wisely.” Hans F. Hansen

3. Get Around the Right People

The people you choose to be around can either drag you or lift you. Sometimes communicating and surrounding yourself with the right people can shift everything. It is imperative to be around people who are positive, inspiring, and supportive. Be willing to let go of negative people. Negative people drain you and hinder your motivation. Your circle or your team should consist of people who are just as ambitious, encouraging, and inspiring as you.

β€œIf you don’t see yourself as a winner, then you cannot perform as a winner.” -Zig Ziglar

4. Think Positive and See yourself as the BEST

Positive thinking leads to positive results. When you think positively, you can be optimistic and have a positive attitude to be the β€œBEST YOU” you can be. Thinking positive is beneficial to your mental health. When you are happy and stress-free, you can be motivated to accomplish anything.Β

β€œIt is up to you to get your dreams and goals moving.” -Brenda Johnson Padgitt

5. MOVE

Have you ever heard the quote, “Don’t nothing come to a sleeper but a dream”? For you to get motivated, you must get up and get to moving. Motivation does not happen by chance. You must be willing to take action. You must be ready to be challenged to do the work to achieve your goal.

When you get motivated, you can achieve and accomplish anything you put your mind to. I hope reading this blog has been useful and helpful to getting you motivated and started on achieving those goals and dreams.

5 Essentials You Need In Your Closet

“Buy less, choose well, make it last.” -unknown

As many of you guys know, I am a Kindergarten Teacher. Sometimes it can be hard to choose something to wear daily. When it comes to choosing something to wear, I believe it’s important to have “essentials” in your wardrobe. When I say essentials, I mean having clothing items in your closet that can be quick to grasp or “go-to” pieces when you’re trying to achieve that perfect look. Essentials can also be pieces you can mix and match to make different/other outfits or other looks without buying new clothes often.

5 Essentials I believe every person should have in their closet:

  1. Blazer/Cardigan
  2. Crisp White Shirt/Blouse/Dress Shirt
  3. Black Slacks/Black Skirt/Black Dress
  4. Comfortable Shoes/Dress Shoes
  5.  Accent Accessories

Blazer/Cardigan

Having a blazer or a cardigan is a MUST have in your wardrobe because you can style them with just about anything! You can dress them up or you can dress them down. You can put a blazer or a cardigan on with slacks, a skirt and or jeans to give you a more formal or a casual look.

Crisp White Shirt/Blouse/Dress Shirt

I keep a crisp white shirt/blouse/dress shirt in my closet.
They never go out of style. You can wear these white shirts with all colors or patterns. You can also wear these shirts with jeans, slacks, or a suit.

Black Slacks/ Black Skirt/Black Dress

A pair of black slacks, black skirts and or black dresses can be your “go-to” pieces. You can wear them for a fashionable look or a casual look. I also love the fact that you can mix and match these items with different pieces like a blazer, white shirt, etc. and make multiple outfits and looks.

*navy is also acceptable.

Comfortable Shoes/Dress Shoes

It’s good to have a nice pair of comfortable shoes. They can be:

  • flats
  • sneakers
  • loafers
  •  pumps
  • boots
  • sandals
  • dress shoes.

(preferably in the color of black, navy, brown, nude, white)

Accent Accessories

You always want to have different accent accessories you can add to your outfit to make it POP or stand out. My “go-to” accent accessories are my earrings. I love big and flashy earrings to set my outfit off. I also love to wear brooches on my shirts and dresses. Some examples of some accent accessories you can have are:

  • earrings
  • handbags
  • necklaces
  • scarves
  • brooches
  • stylish belts
  •  sunglasses/glasses
  • tie/bowties
  • hats

and more.

7 Inspiring Quotes That Will Help You “Level Up” In 2020

“The “Level Up” is about improving not impressing. Show yourself that you can get better. It’s YOU vs. YOU at the end of the day.”

We’ve all heard the popular award-winning, singer-songwriter Ciara’s hit single, “Level Up.” If not, you are going to have to download and check the song out. “Level Up” is a song that promotes a positive movement about self-empowerment and growth. I love everything about the song. In our lives, we should always want to advance ourselves positively. It’s the start of the new year and what better time to reflect, set goals and plan to Level Up?

For you to level up, you have to be inspired, focused, and have a growth mindset.

I’ve assembled a list of 7 of My Favorite Inspiring Quotes to help us to “Level Up” mentally, emotionally, financially, and spiritually in 2020.

I believe these seven quotes will help us to grow in this new season and “Level Up.”

1. “The only time you should look back is to see how far you’ve come.”Β

To level up, you must let go of the past and the barriers that were holding you back from being the best person you can be. Looking back can cause you to slip and fall back into bad habits, experiences, fears, and insecurities. To get to the next level in your life, you sometimes must let go. Don’t look back! Focus on what’s ahead.Β

2. Β “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.”

Have you ever heard the saying, “If you do what you’ve always done,Β you’ll get what you’ve always got?” That’s basically what this quote is implying. When wanting to level up, you must be willing to come out of your comfort zone and try new things and experience new things. Being challenged can help ignite the positive change and growth you want to see in your life.Β

3. “Surround yourself with ONLY people who are going to lift you higher.

WHEW!!! Surrounding yourself with people who uplift you is imperative and a MAJOR component to leveling up. If your friends or the people that are surrounded around you don’t inspire you to level up, then your circle is not as strong as you thought it was. It’s time for you to get/make new friends.Β

4. “If you are persistent, you will get it; if you are consistent, you will keep it.”Β

It’s one thing to be persistent, but if you are only persistent and NOT CONSISTENT, then whatever goals, dreams, etc. you have will lack longevity. For example, that new business, blog, website, YouTube Channel, etc., if it’s going to work, you must put in the work by being persistent and consistent for it to flourish and last. Consistency is the KEY to leveling up.Β

5. “Be FEARLESS in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.

What does it mean to be “FEARLESS?” To me, it means that despite your fears and challenges in life, you chose to have the courage to stay focused on what matters. To be FEARLESS doesn’t mean that the fear isn’t present; it means that you are not going to let your fears conquer and get in the way of you leveling up and achieving your purpose and passion in life.Β Step out there on FAITH. Let your purpose be BIGGER than your fears.

6. “Let go of people who dull your shine, poison your spirit, and bring you drama.”Β

As stated above, if people are not lifting you higher in life, it’s no need to hold on to them. Sometimes holding on can do more damage than letting them go. Get rid of toxicity in your life. Don’t let people have you unbalanced and so far gone that you miss leveling up to new heights. Don’t let people poison your spirit and bring unnecessary and unwanted drama in your life. Peace is the way. Below, I’ve listed the 8 reasons fromΒ Mar and Angel Hack LifeΒ website of reasons why you should let go and move on:Β Β

  1.  Someone is negativity rubbing off on you.
  2.  You have grown apart from someone.
  3. You are truly unhappy with your current circumstances.
  4.  Your goals and needs have changed.
  5.  Fear is holding your back.
  6. You catch yourself living in the past.
  7.  An old grudge is still hurting you.
  8. You aren’t learning anything new.

7. “Move different because YOU want different.

For you to level up, you must move differently because YOU want different. You have to do it for yourself. Hell, you owe that to yourself. Let me tell you now from experience when you move different people will not be happy about your decision. People will start dropping like flies out of your life (and that my friend is not always a bad thing LOL). When that happens, that’s just evidence that the “Level Up” is REAL! They probably weren’t meant to be in your life anyway.Β

In 2020, let’s LEVEL UP by staying focused and investing in our growth and empowerment.Β I hope that you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it πŸ™‚ Please leave comments and feedback and be sure to share this post on your social media outlets. ReSolution/ReVolution: How to Make and Keep Your New Year Resolution

“Don’t let anything STOP you from reaching your goal…”

new

Did you make a New Year Resolution for 2020? Some people frown upon people who make Resolutions every year; however, there is nothing wrong with having resolutions to help guide you throughout the year. According to Wikipedia, a New Year Resolution is a tradition, in which a person resolves to change an undesired traits or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal, or otherwise improve their life.

It has been specified that, by February, most resolutions die down and are forgotten about. Hmm, why is that? Could it be because some people set unrealistic resolutions/goals? We all know that making resolutions or making goals can be achievable, but they must be done the right way.
In order to set a more effective resolutions, one must first understand, the importance of a β€œrevolution.” Yes, a REVOLUTION, meaning to β€œmake a CHANGE”! In my opinion, a β€œResolution” and β€œRevolution” must go hand and hand for your goal(s) to be effective and achievable.
Second, if you are not willing to put in the work to accomplish your resolutions and or goals, then they will not be achieved. When making resolutions/goals, you must be willing to MAKE a CHANGE, CREATE a PLAN, and FOLLOW the PLAN. Having a plan helps you to establish a foundation or a blueprint to help you reach your goals.

When making a goal, it’s good to use the S.M.A.R.T. Goal Criteria:

S.pecific- Set and state a clear goal.
M.easurable- Set a goal you can evaluate and monitor the progress of.
A.ttainable- Set a goal that’s challenging but possible to achieve.
R.elevant- Set a goal that make sense and will improve you.
T.ime Based- Set a deadline/date when exactly you want to accomplish your goal.

Lastly, when setting your RESOLUTION (goal), it is IMPERATIVE to surround yourself around likeminded individuals who want to make a REVOLUTION (change) and achieve a goal or the same goal as yourself. πŸ™‚Β
