“Buy less, choose well, make it last.” -unknown

As many of you guys know, I am a Kindergarten Teacher. Sometimes it can be hard to choose something to wear daily. When it comes to choosing something to wear, I believe it’s important to have “essentials” in your wardrobe. When I say essentials, I mean having clothing items in your closet that can be quick to grasp or “go-to” pieces when you’re trying to achieve that perfect look. Essentials can also be pieces you can mix and match to make different/other outfits or other looks without buying new clothes often.
5 Essentials I believe every person should have in their closet:
- Blazer/Cardigan
- Crisp White Shirt/Blouse/Dress Shirt
- Black Slacks/Black Skirt/Black Dress
- Comfortable Shoes/Dress Shoes
- Accent Accessories

Blazer/Cardigan
Having a blazer or a cardigan is a MUST have in your wardrobe because you can style them with just about anything! You can dress them up or you can dress them down. You can put a blazer or a cardigan on with slacks, a skirt and or jeans to give you a more formal or a casual look.

Crisp White Shirt/Blouse/Dress Shirt
I keep a crisp white shirt/blouse/dress shirt in my closet.
They never go out of style. You can wear these white shirts with all colors or patterns. You can also wear these shirts with jeans, slacks, or a suit.

Black Slacks/ Black Skirt/Black Dress
A pair of black slacks, black skirts and or black dresses can be your “go-to” pieces. You can wear them for a fashionable look or a casual look. I also love the fact that you can mix and match these items with different pieces like a blazer, white shirt, etc. and make multiple outfits and looks.
*navy is also acceptable.

Comfortable Shoes/Dress Shoes
It’s good to have a nice pair of comfortable shoes. They can be:
- flats
- sneakers
- loafers
- pumps
- boots
- sandals
- dress shoes.
(preferably in the color of black, navy, brown, nude, white)

Accent Accessories
You always want to have different accent accessories you can add to your outfit to make it POP or stand out. My “go-to” accent accessories are my earrings. I love big and flashy earrings to set my outfit off. I also love to wear brooches on my shirts and dresses. Some examples of some accent accessories you can have are:
- earrings
- handbags
- necklaces
- scarves
- brooches
- stylish belts
- sunglasses/glasses
- tie/bowties
- hats
and more.
